I don’t know about y’all but I was just lacing up my boots getting ready for our auntie Ms. Monet Tejada’s funeral. In other words, Power Book II: Ghost, I was not ready.

With an episode titled “Ghost in the Machine,” my first thought was that somehow the real Ghost a.k.a James St. Patrick was going to make an appearance. I think we’ve all been waiting for that. Okay, but serious #spoileralert. Insert mouth wide open emoji, because that was me literally the entire episode. I know we’ve been told that this was the final season of Power, but this episode gave nothing short of “see y’all soon.” There is still unfinished business and loose ends that need to be tied, and frankly, I can speak for the millions of fans, we just aren’t ready for it to come to an end. While I do highly recommend you watch this for yourself, I’ve took the highlights from the finale and included a #spoileralert below.

Tariq still has Detective Carter hostage. While Effie and Brayden search Carter’s house for evidence and try to delete that video evidence of them killing Zion that could land him (Brayden) and Tariq in jail, the remaining members of the Tejada family (Diana, Dru, and Cane) mourn the passing of their mother and seek to avenge her death.  Effie, being the computer genius hacker she is, finds some information regarding officer Kamaal Tate’s death- which has Carter's name and fingerprints all over it, literally.

Of course Tyriq wouldn’t be Ghost’s son if he didn’t antagonize Carter and his corrupt cop crooked ways. Tariq ends up getting in his head - a.k.a tells him if he doesn’t erase the video of Zion’s death they will expose him for killing Tate. Tariq eventually ends up letting Carter go.

Now keep in mind, while all this is transpiring, the Tejada family breaks into Noma’s home and kidnaps Anya as leverage.

Tariq ends up coming to Anya’s “rescue,” but only to put her in harm’s way. That’s right, he drives her to Noma’s secret hideout. Prior to this, the Tejada’s and Tariq strike a deal. If Dru goes to the police station and deletes the footage, he will get Anya to give up the location of her mom. Of course they agree and Tariq “fakes” as if he is saving Anya from the Tejadas. As they (Tariq and Anya) are driving to the hideout, they have a heart to heart in the car. Tariq ends up telling her who he really is and what he really does. As Anya gets out of the car, she lets him know she doesn’t want to be like him. Noma walks out the house and approaches Anya, but Diana comes from around the corner and shoots her, leaving her to die in her mother’s arms.

Dru does come through with his end of the deal and goes to the police station in an attempt to wipe the footage from Carter’s computer. He successfully does so, but Dre wants more. He wants Noma’s  whereabouts. Carter wouldn't be Carter unless he wanted something in return. He wants Dre to kill Tariq.

Fast forward, Dre says he has Tariq’s location and is ready to set him up. To his surprise, Tariq and Brayden are there waiting with the bullet that Carter used to kill officer Tate. Long story short, he ends up confessing to his crimes after agreeing to a “fake” deal with Tariq. Of course Tariq has another  one up his sleeve. Officer Nico is listening and arrests Carter for his involvement in Tate’s death.

The Tejada's plan to take Noma down by booking a jet and baiting her to show up. Little to their surprise, Noma literally one-uped them and when they arrive the police are there. Dru and Diana are taken into custody, but little does Noma know her life ends there, by no one other than her not so “husband to be,” Cane,  who sneaks up behind her. Don’t worry, he gets away, but does get shot in the process.

To sum it up, all of the Tejada’s charges have been dropped thanks to Davis Maclean and his lawyer expertise, Effie gives her savings to Cane to get away, Dru wants out of the game, but Diana does not, Tariq tells his mom, Tasha, that she can finally leave witness protection but without him because he still wants to be in the “game,” and Tariq is instantly back in business - if you know what that means. When they said “Ghost never dies” and “power never ends” they literally mean that. Whew!

As the credits end Tariq gets an eerie phone call. Looks like he’s on his way somewhere else. Fans speculate that the phone call was from everyone’s favorite honorary uncle, Tommy.

We’re left with these final words: “Come on, we're family for life. Send me the details, and I’ll be there. I’m on my way.”

That was a lot to unpack, but the people have been talking - by people, I mean social media - and we want another season.
