Hey, bookies!

So…after weeks of trying to figure out what content I wanted to post next, I finally figured it out! The reason I created my brand was because I wanted to become your virtual homegirl; I wanted to write content that resonated with me, and spoke to you. I was literally biting these acrylics and rolling my eyes at my computer screen until I saw a tiktok video about creating things from the heart. I literally had an epiphany about why I even started writing in the first place which then led me to coming up with . . . D R U M R O L L please … Dear Homegirl

I know your next question is, “what’s that?” Dear Homegirl will be weekly homegirl affirmations/pep talks that will be delivered straight to your inbox - finger's crossed, every Sunday. Each week will have a theme. One week might focus on self love while the following week’s theme could be on finding yourself after a break-up. It honestly depends on my mood for the week. Remember, these are coming from the heart so depending on how I’m feeling during that week or what I experience will determine that week’s theme.

Listen, life be life’ing like it ain’t never lifed before. I remember going through a really bad breakup and feeling empty. It wasn’t until I came across an amazing woman, who I used to call my “virtual big sister’s” youtube channel, that I started feeling like myself again. I felt like she was speaking directly to me as she shared her personal experiences with heartbreak and how she got through it. After a few weeks of watching her videos, accompanied with the support of my friends and literally going through every emotion you can think of, I was learning to cope with the fact that that person was no longer a part of my life. I came to realize that he was just a piece of all the amazing things I had going on prior to our relationship that would only continue post break-up.

I say all this to say that it was because I was only reading and watching things that motivated me I was able to move past my pain. So if you need that reminder that you will overcome whatever it is you may be going through or struggling in silence, I am hopeful that Dear Homegirl will resonate with you.

As always, I love you and you are amazing.

Signed With Love,

The Neighborhood Homegirl
