Dear Homegirl,
I know, I know! Trust me, I know! You’ve been redoing your resume, creating different cover letters based on the job description, browsing Linkedin, Indeed, and other employment platforms, sending follow-up emails, and possibly anything you can do to find work. I know as a kid I was in a rush to be an adult, but I take it all back. This sh*t is hard!
Applying for a job is a job itself - a very exhausting, and sometimes discouraging one. My job journey is all over the place, working 9-5s to fund my career as a creative is mentally draining. I would love to be doing what I love - writing and creating content that resonates with all of you - and make money from it. That’s the goal, right? Isn’t this everyone’s goal? To make money doing what they love? I knew it would be hard, but sheesh, not this hard.
After spending many, many months going back and forth with myself and if this is what I really should be doing, I came to the realization that YES, this is absolutely what I should be doing. Just to be completely transparent with you all, my goal is to find a 9-5 that will not kick my ass, fund my personal projects, and make the stress of working worth it. To summarize this; I just want a job that’s worth the stress. I don’t mind the hard work, but can it come from a job that I actually enjoy. Yes, going to college and stacking up on degrees is part of the process to obtaining that career or financial freedom you desire, but they didn’t tell me that networking my butt off would be one of the deciding factors on whether I get that job or not. As manager of Omarion Worldwide, CEO, nurse, and entrepreneur Michelle Le Fleur said “networking is essential.”
Anywho, enough of that. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty on why you clicked this post to begin with. We want affirmations that will keep us in a positive mindset while we search for the job of our dreams - and assist us in living that soft life we so ever deserve. I got you!
